Wendy Question #19

Dear Joshua,

Today I got an immediate sense of how the "journey " is more fulfilling than the result. I love college football - I root hard for the schools my sons attended. Today was the first day of the season. I was so excited when I woke up - I could not wait for the games to start - I was giddy with expectation! Once the games started - as time went on - although I was enjoying watching the games - my enthusiasm began to wane. I realized the build up to the games - the anticipation was what my excitement was all about ~ what I truly enjoy and watching the games play out was just the next logical step.

I'd like to understand how to apply this idea/feeling of anticipation to the "bigger" things in life. I think it was so easy today to understand because the "event" happened right after my feeling. My excitement came from the fact of "knowing" the games would be on at 9:00. How do I develop this type of excitement for something that has not yet manifested - something that I don't know when it will happen? How do I hold that excitement and go about my day to day life? Do I have to carry that excitement with me at all times? Do I have to just get excited when I think about the thing I am wanting? How exactly does this work?

With love and Gratitude
~ Wendy

Dear Wendy,

You woke up in the morning with a feeling of excitement and anticipation because you knew what was going to happen. You had an expectation that the games would be on TV and you would enjoy them. You had a previous experience which created a belief that you would enjoy the first day of college football. It had happened many times in the past and so you were free from doubt. The only logical thing that could happen was to sit down and enjoy the games. And that's exactly what manifested in your reality.

This is how all things manifest. There are no big things or small things, there is just doubt and fear or expectation and faith. The things that manifest easily, like lunch, involve a lot of previous experience that creates a strong belief. The belief is evidenced by a lack of doubt and fear. When you believe something will happen, it usually happens. You believed the games would go on schedule and so they did.

When you have doubt (which is really just fear), you stall the manifestation of that which you desire. When you have faith, you remove the fear and allow the thing you want to be revealed to you in your reality.

For instance, if you really wanted the games to be played on Friday, rather than Saturday, this would be an issue. You have no belief that they could or would be played on Friday and no expectation at all. The fact that they are not played on Friday doesn't even bother you. You accept that they will all come on TV when they are scheduled and you accept that Saturday is the perfect day for college football. You can be eager on Friday night knowing that tomorrow the games will be played.

So then, why would you want anything to be manifested before its time? Isn't it true that the manifestation of anything you really desire should come at the perfect time and not a minute earlier? Why rush the process? Living in love means that you have faith that what you want will come when you are ready and not a moment sooner. You adopt a stance of eager anticipation and you enjoy all the little manifestations that build to the big event. And when the big event comes and your desire is manifested, it will seem as normal as turning on the TV on Saturday and watching the games.

Joshua
