Steve Question #79

Dear Joshua,

I had a manifestation event the other day at work where I became ill quite suddenly and went home midday and spent the next day and a half in bed. I was originally curious as to why this happened to me because I'm normally quite healthy, but I trusted that things were working out for me. Now in hindsight, I see it was quite perfect. It allowed me the time to complete an important project for my "other" job which was due the next morning and it gave me an extra day of rest which I really needed. So it appears that the universe gave me the stomach flu to allow this to happen. My question is if I would have just stepped in and taken a couple days off on my own, could I have spared the stomach flu?

Thanks!
Steve

Dear Steve,

The universe will bring you what is wanted through the method of least resistance given your current set of beliefs. Had you believed you could take a couple of days off work to finish your project, that would have been the path of least resistance. Since you have a limiting belief in this area, the path of least resistance came in the form of an unpleasant bodily condition. However, you were open to the belief that a physical ailment like this is a suitable and appropriate excuse to leave work. Had you believed that you needed no excuse to leave work, which would be true for you if that's what you believed, you would have simply taken the time off and did what you believed you needed to do. Had you believed that the other project could wait, which also would have been true for you if that was your belief, you would not have been stricken with the bodily condition and no one would have cared about the delay in completing the project. You see your life unfolds strictly in accordance with your person set of beliefs. Make those beliefs more flexible, more open, more malleable, and your life flows smoothly to wherever you want it to go.

You have uncovered some limiting beliefs in this manifestation event and that is always a good thing. You believe you cannot leave work unless you're sick or something tragic happens. Do you see how limiting this is? It means that if you believe you must leave work, then they only way out is through an unpleasant occurrence. If you open your set of beliefs to include the fact that this is your reality and you are the creator of your reality, and that this universe revolves around you and is set up specifically for you, and that nothing is real and it's all an illusion filtered through your set of beliefs, then who cares if you leave work for an hour, a day, or a month?

Imagine if you were the director of a movie and the only person who would ever see the movie was you. You would create it in such a way that it pleases you most. Since it was for you and you would be the only person who ever saw it, you could create it without the fear of what others might think. Now, imagine that you were producing this movie believing that others would see it. Your wife, children, friends, peers, coworkers, bosses, partners and all your relatives would all see the movie. Now you create it so that while it pleases you it also doesn't offend them. In fact, you start to create it so that it pleases them. In fact, as you get further into it, you realize that you want them to like this movie even more than you. So you scrap the movie you were making and you rewrite the whole script in a way that you think they would like. Then you release the movie and no one comes to see it because they are all too busy making their movies which they hope you will like. No one is making movies they want to see. They are all making films that they think others will like. However, with so many movies being made and played, no one ever gets a chance to see another's film. All anyone sees are the trailers.

So, since no one will ever see your movie, not because they're not interested, just because they are so involved with their own movies, you can start creating the film that you want to see. If you want the protagonist (that's you if you need a hint) to be a superhero, then that's how you'll create him. If you want him to be daring and brave, then you'll write those lines and he'll be those things. Now that you have complete freedom knowing that no one will ever see the whole film, you can simply direct your movie and write your characters, and build your sets, and film in the locations you choose and do the whole thing in the way that pleases you most. You are in charge and you even get to choose the caterer.

Joshua
