Steve Question #56

Dear Joshua,

A while back, we had a Q & A where I was debating between becoming an expert in an area where my colleague wanted me to versus hiring an outside contractor. Well I finally had the conversation with my colleague pushing for an outside contractor and it went very well, I now have the go-ahead to hire someone. So now I want the perfect person and I thought I would reach out to you for your advice on how to attract this person...

Here's a snippet from our prior Q & A:

Once you've gained their trust and they've agreed to hire an outside contractor, you must vibrationally prepare yourself so that you can find the right person. You will want to make sure you're up to speed with your desire and know what you really want before you can rendezvous with this new person. You will have to be a little patient in this process.

Now, there are two ways this can go: 1) out of desperation, you hire the first person you find and you learn from that or 2) you spend a little time and preparation feeling for the essence of what you really want. We can help you with that part of it when you are ready.

I want someone who is very interested in this area and loves to read up on the latest news regarding it. Also, they should be a great communicator. I don't know if it makes more sense for them to be local (my colleague did express he would prefer someone he could sit down with) but I don't feel that is completely necessary given today's technology and the ability to share screens, so I'm open to either. I'd also like them to be available and possibly interested in growing with us long term. From a feeling perspective, I trust they will receive my requests, understand what needs to be done, complete tasks in a timely manner, communicate and come up with new ideas for us to implement that are leading edge. As a bonus, he/she charges a very reasonable amount. How's that for a start?

Thanks!
Steve

Dear Steve,

Your work is to become vibrationally aligned with what is wanted and to remove your attention from anything unwanted. This is easier said than done, for the moment you think about what you want, you also think about what you don't want. When you look at specific attributes you imagine would be good for your new contractor to possess, you also think about the unwanted attributes. It is unavoidable. In doing so you get a little of what you want and a little of what you don't want.

You also fall into a trap of thinking you know what the best attributes are. You are seeking those attributes, those specific qualities which cause you to miss the person who might be perfect for the job. You can only imagine what the perfect person would be like. Your perspective is limited and you don't really know who the best person would be. All you can look at is a set of attributes and some of their past histories. If they received glowing endorsements from former employers (or a lack of them), this means something to you.

Past performance really is an illegitimate point of reference because the conditions of the past (vibrations) were different then the conditions you are creating. You are unique and your situation is unique (how many of their former employers understood as much as you do about universal forces and the mechanism of physical reality?)

So what are you to do? You must consider what is is that you want. You must think about how you want to feel. You are only interested in the feeling that you believe this new person will bring. You are also fearing the feeling the new person will bring. So here you stand right now. You feel a certain way. You feel at ease because this unwanted task has been removed from your scope of responsibility in that you are not having to personally do it. However, you are still responsible for the task. So what is it that you want to feel? What is it that you are afraid of feeling. Identify these two feelings and then go to work.

Let's say you want the feeling of accomplishment. How would that feel? You see your client and co-workers happy with the progress of the campaign. You feel secure in your position. You feel that others respect you. You feel proud of the work you've done. You feel good.

Let's now say you worry about the opposite feeling: failure. You worry that this new person won't be able to do the job. You worry that money will be wasted. You worry that even if he does the job, it won't make much of a difference. You worry that if he fails, then you fail. You worry that your client and co-workers will lose faith in you. You worry about a lack of security. You don't feel good.

Can you manage how you feel or do your feelings fluctuate based on the conditions you find yourself in. Can you feel bad when things are going well? Can you feel good when things are falling apart? This is your work. You must feel the feeling of accomplishment now. You must work on that. You must reduce the intensity of the fearful thoughts by soothing yourself into a place of feeling good.

The key to the feeling of accomplishment is the practice of confidence. Know that no mater what happens, the universe is responding to your vibration and you have power over how you feel. Know that what matters is how you think of yourself, not what your client or colleagues think. Know that you know more than nearly everyone else and you can utilize the power of the universe to bring you what you want. Realize you are so much bigger and more powerful than you currently acknowledge. Know that whatever happens, things are always working out for you. Know that you can't get it wrong, ever.

Here's what you wrote regarding the new person:

I want someone who is very interested in this area and loves to read up on the latest news regarding it. Why do you want this attribute? Why do you care?

Also, they should be a great communicator. Why do you want this attribute? Why do you care?

I don't know if it makes more sense for them to be local (my colleague did express he would prefer someone he could sit down with) but I don't feel that is completely necessary given today's technology and the ability to share screens, so I'm open to either. Why do you want this attribute? Why do you care?

I'd also like them to be available and possibly interested in growing with us long term. Why do you want this attribute? Why do you care?

From a feeling perspective, I trust they will receive my requests, understand what needs to be done, complete tasks in a timely manner, communicate and come up with new ideas for us to implement that are leading edge. Why do you want this attribute? Why do you care? As a bonus, he/she charges a very reasonable amount. Why do you want this attribute? Why do you care?

You don't care as much about the attributes of the contractor as much as you care about the feeling you want to gain. The only thing you want, the only thing you're focused on is the feeling of achievement, success, joy, and satisfaction. Nothing else matters. Who cares what they look like, where they live, how much they charge. If you put these limits in place, you might inadvertently preclude the person the universe has chosen to bring you. If you but up any of these requirements, you won't recognize this person when he/she shows up. Your work is to come into vibrational alignment with the feeling of your desire so you will recognize each step along the way.

Now, how is this done? Consider the feeling of what you want and then wait for inspiration. Take no action until the action feels interesting and enjoyable. This is inspiration. It might be subtle, but you have to follow it wherever it leads. It might lead you to an article or a website. It might lead you to the desire to post an ad. You might overhear a conversation. You might be inspired to call a friend and ask for advice. Until you are vibrationally aligned with what you want, you must not take action which is not inspired.

This might be difficult for you because you and your colleagues are action oriented. However, uninspired action will lead to nothing of value. It is time you started thinking more and doing less. This is what will lead you to the feeling of achievement which is what you really want.

Joshua
