Kyla Question #19

Joshua,

I grew up Southern Baptist but have obviously strayed from that path in recent years. In talking to my friend this evening, I realized that I still have a lot of hang ups about feeling judged by Christians. When I am in a group of people who identify themselves in that way, I automatically feel "less than" for some reason.

I haven't spent a lot of time analyzing the limiting beliefs at the root of this, but I know that it has to do with feeling like I'm "bad" or that I'm not enough. What are your thoughts on this? How can I get past this thing that I only just realized was still affecting me? Do I just search for evidence to prove to myself that I am "good" and/or "enough"?

While I can understand all the reasons why people value religion so much, for the past several years it has seemed so silly to me. I was surprised to realize how much I continue to be affected by the beliefs that were instilled in me early on. I'd love to hear your input on this subject.

With much love and gratitude,
Kyla

Dear Kyla,

You chose your parents and the time and place of your birth because you knew the conditions would create certain specific circumstances which would launch you on a trajectory toward the life you are living now. The religion you chose was part of that trajectory. As a child, certain aspects of the religious doctrine did not resonate with you. There were aspects of it that you knew were out of alignment with how you innately understood the universe to be. A lot of it just did not make sense. You, coming here to live the life you intended, were aware of the inconsistencies between the laws of the universe and what this religion was teaching. As a child, you knew something was off, and so do most children.

However, most people succumb to the beliefs that are presented to them by their parents and other people of authority. Many do not question it. Beliefs become entrenched and are difficult to remove. What was useful or helpful to people of an ancient time is of little use today. The vibration is simply much higher than that.

In the years to come, religions based on ancient teachings will continue to erode in your modern society. The teachings will not resonate with the vibration of today and as people learn to challenge their beliefs even more, they will regard ancient religions as an attempt by man to control the actions and behaviors of other men.

You have chosen to adopt a belief system that resonates with your current, high vibration. Few people have such high vibrations. Few people can understand what you understand. Few people are consciously aware of their limiting belief system. Few people seek the unstable path you chose, preferring instead to live unconsciously, unquestioningly, even though they must realize that what they believe tends to be opposed to who they are and what they really want.

There is certainly nothing wrong with your belief system or theirs. Your beliefs match your vibrational level and theirs matches their lower vibration. In time, they will raise their vibration, but that has nothing to do with you. You simply have a belief system that supports who you are and what you want. Their belief systems only support their limited idea of the universe and themselves.

So look at it from their perspective. They do not feel comfortable when their beliefs are challenged. If they drop their beliefs, what will they adopt? They have no idea and this frightens them. They feel more comfortable clinging to their limiting beliefs rather than challenging them. When you can look at it from their perspective, you can go easier on them and on yourself.

Joshua
