Kate Question #97

Dear Joshua

Thank you for all your answers.

In the evening, home from work (and now the gym, which I'm enjoying because it is spacious and airy and not overcrowded), I have a choice between plonking myself down on the couch for an hour (between meditation and dinner), before talking to Mike, and watching a fun series, or looking at the negative emotions I've felt during the day (and work is a hotbed for me right now) and working on higher perspectives.

I go for the easier softer way in part because of it certainly helps me "forget" and no longer feel negative, but, while not counter productive, is the distraction really productive, long term? I would probably be better for the next two months, hunkering down and doing the "work" of working on those beliefs when I have a time slot like that at the end of the day.

Kate

Dear Kate,

This is all meant to be easy and fun. Is it easy to hunker down and do the work? It doesn't sound like it. Is it fun? Not now it isn't. We would suggest doing whatever is easy and fun and most interesting and most exciting in the moment. When you focus on the work and the idea doesn't seem interesting, exciting or pleasurable, then it's simply not the right time for that.

Do the work when the work doesn't seem like work. This should not be a painful process. It should be interesting, revealing and riveting. When you have an "aha" moment, isn't that fun and exciting? Doesn't it signal that change is to come? Isn't the experience of goosebumps exhilarating? This is what it feels like to do the work. It shouldn't even be called work, because for you, work implies effort and struggle.

Let's call it something else. Let's call it the "Play." When you are ready to do the play, then you will curl up with a pad and paper and you will see what comes out. Pay attention to your thoughts. Pick a manifestation event and find a new perspective. Look at a limiting belief and see if you can't find a little evidence to prove it is false. That's fun stuff. Sometimes there's other fun stuff to do. Always do that which is most interesting in the moment. The universe is designed to be easy, not difficult. Always go for the easier, softer way.

Joshua
