Kate Question #92

Dear Joshua

So, I'm going through peri-menopause or menopause and have a question about the body. I saw my step-mother "suffer" through it for years and even now at 71 she gets the occasional hot-flash. And the question is, how linked are they to our mental state (anxiety or not, beliefs or not)? I read an article which said that for Caucasian women, the transition to menopause and the disagreeable effects lasted longer than for black women for example. Having talked about hot flashes with friends, I'm thinking that they happen more frequently when anxiety hits. I think I have beliefs which are not very helpful in this area which I can work on.

A bit the same for Body weight and metabolism (for everyone) – which is probably addressed in your upcoming book, but I'm just curious early. Some say 5 small meals a day speeds up metabolism and avoids hunger (and therefore, no overeating), some suggest the fasting 24 hours a week, there are practically as many beliefs out there as books etc. but this is all just individual beliefs is it not? Or maybe the body does actually have one way of reacting to one system which is more helpful to it than any other (but we are all different with our different vibrations)?

Kate

Dear Kate,

Any and all physical discomfort, pain, disease, or chronic condition is the result of one thing and one thing only; resistance. You might see that some problems are specific to some cultures because there is a tendency in that culture to be more resistant in certain areas based on cultural beliefs. However, if you want to avoid any seemingly unpleasant bodily condition there is something you can do about it. Just relax, drop your resistance, and go with the flow of life.

Obviously, there's more to it than that, but that is a good place to start. If you could be nonresistant in every aspect of your life, you could live in perfect health, at the perfect weight, for as long as you chose to live. It's all a matter of resistance.

Certain forms of resistance can manifest in certain specific conditions. What does this tell you? The condition is a message. If you have this condition, you are resisting this certain thing or doing it in this certain manner. For instance, resentment is a very specific emotion and over time it might lead to a very specific condition. Regret is another very specific emotion which could lead to a different specific condition.

When you receive a negative emotion you now realize what it is. It is an indication of resistance. It is the first sign that you are resisting something you are focussed on. It is a gift and a warning and a message all rolled into one. It tells you that you are looking at something in a way that does not and will not serve you. If you ignore this message, what happens? The message gets louder and more intense. You feel stronger emotion. If you ignore this, what happens? Something manifests in your reality that you do not want. It is another message. If you ignore this, what happens? You get more and more obvious messages, which keep getting stronger and stronger until you develop a chronic condition.

If you continue to ignore the messages and endure the emotional and even physical pain, you will want to exit this reality. The pain will be too much. You'll numb yourself with substances, you'll develop a life-threatening disease, you'll find yourself in dangerous situations, or you'll commit suicide. It all stems from resistance.

Resistance gets its start when you believe something is bad or wrong and you seek to change it. We say there is no wrong anywhere in the universe. Why do we say this? Because it's true and because we are completely without resistance. Resistance stems from fear. You will notice that in the wild an animal may experience fear, but when the danger passes, the fear is gone. This is rational fear and because the danger quickly moves away, the animal drops its fear and resumes a high emotional state of being. The human does not see a difference between rational and irrational fear. When one experiences fear of the irrational sort (the danger is perceived, not real and it cannot kill you), one tends to hold onto the fear for a prolonged period of time. This is unnatural.

The human holds onto the fear as long as the fear exists. This could be minutes, hours, days, or even years. People do not realize that fear must be released quickly otherwise it gains momentum. People do not yet understand that fear can be released through the art of analysis and by choosing a higher perspective. The tools we teach to release fear have the side effect of health, well-being, and proper body weight. Fear is what causes disease and weight gain, not food.

There is no need to listen to anyone else when it comes to health. As you know, everyone is unique and so no treatment can work for all people. All a treatment or a diet does is influence one to accept or drop beliefs. Those who benefit from the new belief system respond to the treatment. Those who do not adjust their beliefs cannot be helped by medication. Those who allow their beliefs to be open and flexible integrate our teachings and their lives improve. Those who have rigid beliefs cannot benefit from our words.

Joshua
