Kate Question #51

Dear Joshua,

If I am focusing on abundance on the one hand, and go into work and make the best of it, and find pleasure and joy in it, and take money (income, commission etc) completely out of the equation (probably not fully doable but certainly easier if I'm on the right track here), and just try and have fun in the day with what I have to do, I would imagine my resistance to my financial abundance would lessen. If I were to say to myself "it probably won't come from here, but it won't come if I'm not feeling good", then just focusing on feeling good would make it easier for the universe to get it to me one way or another. In more simple terms - my "job" is not my source, it is an experiential event that teaches me to have fun and look at beliefs and go with the flow. And if I can take the "income aspect" out of it all (and "how well I'm doing compared with budget", the universe will help me (but at the same time, I do have to work on the beliefs as I can see how powerful they are still, even after having worked on them a bit).

I can see how our beliefs are powerful - and I can choose to look at those who don't work and have no money, and those who don't work and have plenty of money. I can choose to look at those who work hard and don't have any money, and those who work hard and have a lot - surely there is a happy middle ground to reach?

Just a thought that occurred to me while reading your (Gary's) book and thinking about abundance and work. I would like to enjoy my work without the pressure (we've been here, but until I get ...there... I'll be bringing it up again).

Kate

Dear Kate,

You've hit the nail on the head! Bravo! Your work at work is to feel good, get into a positive emotional state, ease off the pressure, have fun, and just relax. Focus on what's interesting and follow your inspiration to act. Do not act out of pressure or fear because this type of action is futile. Inspired action uses the leverage of the universe to bring you what you desire. Now then, at work, what is it that you truly, honestly, really, completely desire?

Do you really know what you want out of work? Do you want to be seen as capable and good at your job? Do you want to make budget so the pressure will ease off? Do you want to make smart decisions for your clients? Do you want to be seen as successful? Do you want to make enough money so that you no longer have to worry about bills? Can you see the trick in these questions?

You cannot move to the place you want to be by escaping a condition you do not like. You cannot prove your worthiness to others by doing things in order to gain their appreciation. You are worthy, you are abundant, well-being is flowing to you. You cannot move along a path toward what is wanted when what is wanted is leaving where you are. That just keeps you in a never-ending loop that repeats the same old reality over and over again.

So let's think of what is wanted. If you could design the work and life you really, truly wanted, what would it be? Take out some paper and in your own hand, with a pen or pencil, write down what it is that you want. Write it all down in great detail. Just write sentences without judging them. When you have finished writing, type these sentences in your next question. Together, we will take a look at each one and see if we can figure out what it is you truly want.

This is an important exercise and we look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Joshua
