Arnaud Question #2

Hi Joshua,

Thank you very much for your answer to my first question, which I think sets the tone perfectly for the start of my one on one journey. It is true that I have an idea of the life that I would prefer to live and that, on the other hand, some of my beliefs are in conflict with this vision. I think that my perspective on abundance, for instance, will be a theme I will be exploring with you in depth! I've had contrast around this and there is still more to explore and fears to overcome...

On that subject of abundance, I have a question that came to me this afternoon about the lottery, which relates to that faith in the universe in my previous question. This week the Euromilllions jackpot is a record amount so there has been a lot of talk about it. Like every week, I will be buying some tickets (usually one line with the numbers I play every time, and sometimes I add a lucky dip).

I have now adopted a playful approach to playing. I see it as fun, I'm not too attached to the outcome and I see it as a potential channel through which I could receive a large amount of money. But I wondered today whether playing at all wasn't more likely to send the opposite signal to the universe, i.e. "I have luxury tastes and I want all these cool expensive things, including a fabulous house, and I don't really believe I can create these things unless a miracle happens like winning the lottery." So basically, playing the lottery would be like hovering a big magnifying glass over what I think is lacking in my life, which is obviously not what I want to do. Would it be more beneficial for me to stop playing and focus on my feeling of abundance in the moment? (I actually feel a bit of fear at the thought of not playing, which is telling me something).

Dear Arnaud,

If you were a match to a large amount of money, you would have different interests, different expectations, and a completely different set of beliefs. Those who win the lottery usually do not do so because they are a match to the huge fortune, they are a match to all the issues that will arise with that amount of money coming suddenly into their lives. They are a match to the experiences and the feelings the lottery will bring them. If you look at most lottery winners, they will have to deal with issues related to lack rather than abundance.

Why is it fun to play the lottery? So that you can allow yourself to imagine a life that is out of your reach now. It's not that you need to win the money to enjoy the life of your dreams, you simply need a better imagination and a new set of beliefs. You must improve the imagination and we will help you alter your beliefs. You can have everything you want, but first you must prepare by creating a vibration that is the perfect match to what you want.

Think about the lottery winner. How has he prepared himself for the fortune he has received? His preparation may have been to think about the numbers and to imagine winning the money, but that's about as far as it goes. What he has really done is prepare himself for the lack of abundance and in winning the lottery, he will actually experience all the fears that he has had around money. He will see it slip away. He will feel guilty for having it and not earning it. To ease his guilt, he will give some to family members, but they will never appreciate it, never respect it, and make him feel like he's wasted it. He will use the money to buy things and experiences in order to make himself feel worthy, but he will always feel like a fraud. He will never feel like he belongs. He will always assume that people are thinking negative thoughts about him and his money. It will be so uncomfortable that he will either have to find a way to feel better about it (usually by giving some or all of it away) or he will lose it. The lottery is not about abundance.

Look at the poker player who wins a million dollars in a poker tournament. He has prepared for it. He has spent countless hours involved in his passion. He has endured the highs and lows of the game and has developed an ability to modulate the lows and to enjoy the highs. He has worked to reduce the intensity of limiting beliefs while raising the intensity of beneficial beliefs. When he wins, he knows he's earned the money. But he never cared about the money. It was the joy of the game that mattered most. The money was the side effect of pursuing his passion with abandon. It feels good, but it's simply part of the game. When he wins the money, it means he can continue pursuing his passion.

Abundance is the ability to do what you need to do when you need to do it. You needed to follow your interest in the laws of the universe and so you found us. You needed to pursue your interest further and so you read books and listen to podcasts. You needed to dig a bit deeper and so you find yourself on a Joshua Live call intended for One on One students, yet you are not one of those students. Finally, through your desire to dig even deeper, you are accepted to the One on One program and you push through your fears around money and you make the commitment to participate. This means that you are now a vibrational match to the information you will receive in this conversation with us. You were not a match a year ago, but you are a match now. You made the changes necessary to become a vibrational match.

Play the lottery if you like, but you do not want to win it because it would end the life you are living now and the things you are beginning to learn about yourself, the nature of physical reality, and universal laws. You've already won your lottery by becoming a match to what you have always wanted and that is to understand more about the laws of the universe and your place in that universe. If you are very, very lucky, you'll never win the lottery.

With our love,
We are Joshua
