Allyson Question #20

Dear Joshua,

I was just in the shower when I felt some anger - at this whole idea that we don't have to do anything we don't feel inspired to do! I've just returned from vacation and that provided lots of excuses for not working and making choices that felt like fun, etc. But now, I'm home and I have client work to do and I don't want to do it. I don't feel like it. And you say - you don't have to do anything until you feel inspired. What's the reality of all this when it comes to work-work?

Thank you,
Allyson

Dear Allyson,

Why would you ever do work-work? You didn't come to this fabulous realty to toil away at things you don't like doing. Certainly, there's something you must like about your work. Are you a roofer in Florida in summertime? No? Then you don't have too much to complain about. Of course, we are playing with you here. You don't have to do any work when you're not inspired to, but you must do something you're inspired to do. Inspiration is always flowing to you. When you think of work, what inspires you?

You are doing the work that is right for you now. It is a match to your vibration and it's not so much that you're not inspired, you are simply in a state of resistance and you're focused on issues rather than desires. There are problems to solve rather than opportunities to explore. All you have to do is shift your attention away from the problems and toward the fun, interesting, and exciting stuff. It is all there waiting for you.

All it takes is a simple shift of focus and attention. Think of your work and then ask to be shown something exciting. You will reach a vibrational level that matches an idea and that idea will seem interesting, exciting, or fun. That is inspiration and it is available to you any time you ask.

Start asking for inspiration and you will receive it. Start paying attention to the opportunities and not the drudgery or the problems. Delegate those to someone else or leave them alone until they go away. When you think of what you want to accomplish, and you get yourself into a positive emotional state, you will always receive the inspiration you are asking for.

Remember that with inspiration comes fear when you think too many steps ahead or when you think it over. Don't think too much about it and certainly do not think too many steps ahead. Just go with the flow of whatever seems interesting, exciting, or fun in the moment and take only the step that's right in front of you. If you can adopt this approach to all areas of your life, not just your work, you will live each moment in bliss.

With our love,
We are Joshua
