Wendy Question #50

Dear Joshua,

In our last call, you told Kate to make what she is doing now fun first. Does that mean I should go back into real estate and try to make it fun? Do I have to do this before I can move on to something else? Thinking about finding my passion and the things I have done in the past, it almost seems like to go back to one of these things would be going backwards. I'm thinking maybe I could tweak it a bit or try a different approach? I don't feel inspired to go back to real estate, but am I just giving into fears?

With Love and Gratitude,
~ Wendy

Dear Wendy,

If you feel inspired to go back to real estate because you are excited to put a new twist on it, then that course of action is inspired and will be for your benefit one way or the other. If the idea of approaching this profession from a stance of fun and curiosity sounds appealing, we think it would be an excellent idea. If you can't wait to use what you've learned here to tackle this profession that has caused you grief in the past, then that is a very good idea. However, if you are simply trying to fill in your own grid and take control of the situation, then it's not going to work out as you have pictured it in your mind.

You are meant to do what is fun, exciting, and enjoyable. Certainly, you must work through your fears and do what you want to do. But if you are scratching your head trying to figure out what to do with your time and this is what you have come up with, well then you are just being impatient. It is no great thing to attempt to approach real estate from a new direction, with new tools and new ideas, but if it isn't what you want to do, it will all become so much effort and end in frustration. You are just now starting to look at life differently. Why not relax and see what happens?

As you enter into this next stage of questions, you will feel more confidence. This is quite common. You will feel inspired to try new things and higher level thoughts and ideas will come to you. But you are not quite there yet. You feel as if you have made great progress and you have. The version of you who exists now is quite different than the version of you who existed at the start of this conversation. However, it is nothing compared to who you will be in just a few short weeks.

We suggest that you dabble in real estate if you like, but make no commitments. Do some of the things you find interesting. Follow those interests and see where they lead. Make some new contacts and reacquaint yourself with those you know. If it is interesting, it will lead to other interesting things and when you are ready, your passion will be revealed to you.

With our love and appreciation,
We are Joshua
