Steve Question #51

Dear Joshua,

You have asked me to be on the lookout for negative emotion and yesterday morning I felt some. We were leaving early in the morning to go paintballing and I went to our pantry to grab a 9 volt battery for my paintball gun, but they were not there. Now I knew my wife had recently purchased a brand new pack of 9 volt batteries so I woke her up to ask her where they were and she said she had given them to our son. He was spending the night at a friends so I called and woke him up and asked him where they were and he said check his room, he was not sure. They were not in his room. Now, throughout all this I was getting more and more upset because the paintball facility is over an hour away and I was tight for time and I knew I had to stop and get gas for my vehicle and I was also looking forward to picking up a coffee and a quick bite on the way, but now I was burning time unnecessarily looking for something that should have only taken a few seconds if the batteries were put back where they belong but instead it took over 20 minutes of scouring the house. I was meeting a group of friends from work and I did not want to be late. I also did not want to take the additional time of stopping at a store to purchase a 9-volt battery since that would take additional time. I have had issues in the past where things are not put away "where they belong" and this is a source of irritation for me.

Now I was in a good mood in the morning and looking forward to a fun day of paintballing, but this event definitely put me in an angry mood and I knew this was not good. I tried to analyze the situation in the moment, but I was up against the clock and the bottom line was I needed a 9- volt battery or I was not going to paintball that day. With the time wasted spent looking for the misplaced battery, I was now going to have to skip breakfast or risk being late and holding up the group I was meeting. I tried looking for the false belief, but all I could find were actual consequences - less time for me to do the things I wanted to do that morning - and I felt it was directly caused by my son not putting things back where they belong. So what is the limiting belief here? Why would I bring this event into my life? I feel like I should know this answer, but I'm drawing a blank...

Thanks!
Steve

Dear Steve,

You are in a period of transitioning from old Steve, who knew little about the mechanism of physical reality and who you really are, to the new Steve, who is consciously creating the life he prefers. The old Steve would have reacted to the missing battery in much the way you did. However, at least you were aware of your emotional guidance system and you knew something was happening. The new Steve will look at situations like this, as they arise, in a whole new way.

You have an old approach to life which causes you to look for solutions to problems and place blame on others for conditions that you do not like. When you saw that the battery was missing, you had two choices; 1) find the battery and fix the apparent problem by blaming others for its disappearance or 2) realize that it is you who is responsible for the conditions in your life and this is a wonderful thing. The missing battery happened to you, not to your wife or your son. It is your condition. It is not wrong, it is completely right.

The new Steve would picture the wonderful day of paintballing, just as you did, and would see that the battery was missing. He would feel a little negative emotion as thoughts of being late, or missing breakfast, or blaming himself for not being fully prepared naturally arose within him. But he would stop and realize that because he felt negative emotion, this was an important sign from his inner self. He would stop and analyze the situation. So far, this is the same progression within a manifestation event that the current version of Steve went through. Here's the difference.

The new Steve would realize that everything is happening for him, not to him. He would understand that the negative emotion was brought on by a limiting belief and that belief is based in some irrational fear. In this case the belief is that things should be in their place, that being late will be wrong in some way, that people should be different than they are and that Steve should be more prepared. All these beliefs are based in irrational fear.

The new Steve would not blame himself or others but would instantly realize that a manifestation event is in process and he would be interested in its unfolding. Curiosity would replace feelings of doubt or confusion. You knew that the battery was there. Isn't it interesting that it has mysteriously disappeared? What does this mean? It means there is something for you to gain here.

We can speculate that there might be several benefits to this manifestation event. The first one is for you to have faith that things are always working out for you. You correctly identified that a manifestation event was happening and instead of going with the flow of the event to see where it would take you, you resisted it by trying to change the conditions. This is an old approach to life. If you believed that something good would come of this, like an enhanced feeling of worthiness and well-being, then that's what you would have found.

The battery went missing for a reason. It was not your job to find it. You know this because you felt negative emotion. If you were meant to find the battery, you would feel good about the process. You would be inspired by a sense of challenge and fun. But you were not. You felt negative emotion. So then what are you to do? You are to play a few scenarios in your mind and see which one feels best.

Think about buying a new battery. Think about stopping for breakfast at a place that might also sell the battery. Think about the paintball facility. Might they keep some batteries on hand for occasions such as these? Think about your friends. Would they have extra batteries? Think about other paintballers. Would you meet someone new who might give you one of his or her extra batteries?

The reason your battery was lost was to lead you to something very big indeed. You desire a new experience and the missing battery would lead you to that experience. It was a good one, but you resisted it and so the universe will line you up for it again and you will either go with the flow of the next manifestation event, or you will resist it. It is always your choice.

Next time something happens when you feel negative emotion, simply realize that you're looking at the situation from a limited perspective. Reach for the higher perspective and release your fears. Play with it and have curiosity. You constructed a mental image of your day and something has happened that interferes with that plan. That is exciting! Here is a possibility for great change. Don't resist it, go with it. This is why you are alive. This is your exploration.

Imagine now finding that the battery is missing and instead of being angry, you're elated. You know something is going to happen, but you don't know what. That's more fun than the paintball experience. So you leave your house will all your equipment minus your battery. As you're driving along, you get hungry and you are inspired to stop somewhere for breakfast. You go in the place. Are there batteries here? Why are you here? Who will you meet? What will catch your attention? Do you overhear a conversation?

Nothing happened there, but you had a nice breakfast and you're on the road again. What are you feeling? What do you notice along the way? What's on the radio? Why is the battery missing?

You arrive at the paintball facility. What will your friends think when you show up without a battery? Will they think you're irresponsible or will one of them have an extra battery? Maybe there will be batteries for sale? Maybe this will cause you to go up to a stranger and ask for a battery even though this is very uncomfortable for you.

Whatever it would have been, it would have be an integral part of your growth and expansion. The fact that you resisted it may have altered it. Your vibration is leading you to the highest version of you. The universe will continue to bring you more manifestation events like this one. Eventually you will go with the flow and achieve the expansion. Ease your judgments and realize there is nothing for you to worry about. These events are designed specifically for your personal growth and benefit and there is nothing to fear.

Loved,
Joshua
