Kyla Question #50

Joshua,

Why does my dog have such a fearful response to people he doesn't know, and even sometimes to people he does know?

I've been working lately (after 12 years of trying to make him be different than he is) on accepting the fact that he still loses him mind every time my dad comes in the door. I remind myself that he's a pack dog, that he sees it as his job to protect me, that he's just doing his job as he sees it. I love him to pieces, and like I said, I'm doing my best, finally, to love him unconditionally. But still...in my idea of a perfect world, people could walk in the door at any moment without feeling like they are about to get eaten.

Is my best bet to just keep working on getting comfortable with him potentially going apeshit anytime he's surprised by someone/something? Or is it possible for me to change my beliefs enough that he would become comfortable with whomever/whatever he comes in contact with?

This is a "little" question I've been meaning to ask you for a while. I'm intending to do a better job of sending in the little questions as they pop into my head, rather than just thinking "Oh, that'd be a good question to ask Joshua."

Yesterday's call, where we talked about my "bad" day which wasn't even really that bad, was a good reminder of how much easier it is to immediately digest answers to questions that I'm not as emotionally invested in.

This is the most fun I've ever had as a student. Thank you for being such entertaining and engaging teachers.

With love,
Kyla

Dear Kyla,

In a perfect world everything would be perfect. Oh wait... It is a perfect world and everything is perfect. Accepting your dog for who he is is just like accepting your ex for who he is. If you ex was different, then you would be different. But you are perfect and so is your ex and so is your dog. Everything is a perfect response to your vibration. Isn't that the way you want it to be? You want to be able to maintain your vibration at a high level and from there deliberately create all that you want. So instead of asking others to change, which they cannot do because they are a perfect reflection of your vibration, they came in response to your vibration as they are, you must simply change your vibration.

Could it be any more basic than that? Everything is perfect because it is a perfect representation of your vibration. Don't change the conditions because you cannot change them. If your vibration does not change, the conditions will always revert back to how they are because they are a reflection of your vibration.

So then your dog and his abnormal, crazy behavior is perfect because it completely conforms to what you expect, what you believe, what you wanted, who you believe he is, what you believe is possible, what you believe is not possible, your inner feelings, and your reaction to the outside world. Everything he is is caused by you and almost all of it is what you prefer but some of it is what you do not prefer because you still have judgments and limiting beliefs. If you want something different, you will attract a different dog.

Imagine attracting a wolf because you like big, strong, protective animals but now you want the wolf to cuddle with you and drink warm milk instead of hunt and protect. Why are you looking at possibilities which you know are not what you wanted in the wolf in the first place? The wolf is a wolf and you know he is a wolf, not a kitty cat. If he acted like a kitty cat you would think that was strange and you would not want that either. So accept that the wolf is perfect as he is and that is why you wanted him in the first place. Otherwise you would have attracted a cat.

Joshua
