Kate Question #12

Dear Joshua,

I'm a bit sick (maybe a bit of flu) today and came home from work to rest (and here I am typing to you - lol). Illness is the physical manifestation of resistance. I'm not completely sure what I am resistant to right now. My health is usually excellent (and this is no big deal, just a bit annoying - on the other hand I'm so happy to be off work today and ready to play hooky tomorrow too - if necessary).

Kate

Dear Kate,

Resistance first manifests itself in the form of negative emotion. Prolong this resistance through continued negative emotion and the resistance will manifest itself into an unwanted bodily condition. You asked for something and the universe responded with the manifestation that matched your desire. You asked for something you did not want by resisting what was going on around you. You thought something was wrong. You didn't like a certain situation, environment or condition and so you felt negative emotionwhen thinking about it. You continued this line of thought until eventually, down the road, you manifested a physical bodily condition which removed you from the present condition.

Now, you could have removed yourself without the cold needing to appear in your reality. You could have simply walked away. But, once you returned, the negative emotion would also likely return. So what do you do? Do you leave the condition never to return so that you can avoid these negative thoughts and thus avoid negative emotion and thus avoid feeling bad and thus avoid catching colds which allow you to leave the condition for a few days? As you can guess by now, this approach simply does not work.

You are resisting some condition that you feel causes you to feel bad. There is something you do not like and you wish it was different than it is. So you think these thoughts and feel negative emotion and you're relieved when you catch a cold so that you can leave the situation. However, once you feel better, you are forced to return and the negative thoughts pop up once again. Now we want you to try something else.

You must return to the condition you do not like and try to analyze every aspect which induces negative thought. As soon as you feel a tinge of negative emotion, stop and think. See if you can determine what it is you think is wrong or bad. Stop and analyze the situation. Why do you dislike it? What is the underlying fear? Figure that out and you can find evidence to prove the fear is false.

Go back to the condition and bombard it with positive thoughts. Write a list of things you appreciate about the condition. Pour your effort into this and come up with 25 things you like about that certain condition. Completely ignore anything you don't like by understanding that the only reason you don't like it is due to some small and insignificant fear that is not true.

We want you to work on this specifically for the next few days. We want to see the list you've written. We want you to tell us the fears you've discovered. We will work on this together and we'll make some interesting discoveries.

Joshua
