Kate Question #106

Dear Joshua,

These people here in Vancouver are very much into living life... Chatting to strangers, moving after 30 years in one house, investing and playing poker and charities. Their kids, who are adorable adults, are similar. Lots going on and achieving. I guess I'm looking at my own "achievements" and energy and thinking "these people are doers." It is inspiring and a bit scary at the same time because I think I could be doing more, but I really can't in terms of hours in a day, so it's just a very different lifestyle. I appreciate seeing how energy, activities, etc. can be very different from one culture to another. But I rather envy them their get up and do energy. In fact it's more than that. They take risks - they lean forward into life, and I'm attracted to that because I feel I could potentially get pulled along like the wagons behind a locomotive. But what for if not for the fun? We come back to the reminder for me that I am worthy no matter what I do or don't "do".

I loved your answer to one of Steve's questions about what you (Joshua) would do if you were in his physical body. I need to put that somewhere where I can read and reread since it sums up nicely some solid "how to's".

Yes, I like the risks they take here.

Kate

Dear Kate,

To you it seems like risk. To them it seems like inspired action. They are drawn to doing what they do because they are living more in the state of allowing and less in the state of resisting. They think "why not?" rather than "I can't." It's an approach to life that comes more naturally from a perspective of security and confidence. They lean into life because there is less fear. When inspiration strikes, they go with it rather than arguing against it. The do not consider why it's not a good time or that it might not work.

This is how life was meant to be lived. You are a doer. You have energy. You have all the time in the world. When you make up excuses why you are not leaning into life, you are doing exactly what you do when inspiration strikes. You are arguing against the inspiration. Instead of simply doing what you want to do, you find reasons not to do it.

Now, we must say that there are a lot of times when you follow through on your inspiration and that is a good thing. We are simply pointing out that you could do more if you simply allowed yourself to. You are the only one who stops the momentum of inspiration.

There is so much inspiration coming to you, but you are not aware of all of it. You think that these are just silly thoughts and ideas buzzing around your head. In fact, it is inspiration to act and the inspiration (when inspired from a positive emotional state of being) will lead to what you want. It will always be for your benefit.

The next time you get the idea to call and old friend, call her. The next time you have an urge to take a new route home or to turn down a side street, do it. The next time you feel like talking to a stranger, go ahead and start talking. You are being guided to where you want to go, but you are ignoring some of that guidance. It is always coming to you and always flowing to you. Simply take a break, think about the thought, understand whether you are in a positive or negative state of being, and if you feel good, just do it.

Joshua
