Isabelle Question #3

Hi Joshua,

Again a big warm thank you for teachings and to Gary of course!!!! I think I understand the mirror/manifestation. When an event happens, stop and analyze the situation. See how you feel, if you feel something negative, it means you are not aligned with your higher self the event is meant for you. You could also be part of an event for the other person. Analyze how you feel about it and you will know for what and whom. You could be playing a role or the universe is revealing a limiting belief for you. Limiting beliefs are based in irrational fears. Being a limitless being is the lack of fear. Love is the absence of fear. We have fear to feel contrast in order to birth new desires and that's why we are here.

Ok, so let's dive into personas. I know you stated that it was necessary for us to have it in order for us not to pop out of physical reality, a survival instinct.

I've read a lot of different theories about the EGO, ID, etc. Freud was not my preference, but I get where he was coming from and the time. My favorite theories to explain personality are called the Big Five Personality Traits - Openness to Experience, Conscientiousness, Extroversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism. What I like about this theory is that it goes across cultures and you are all of these, but it depends where on the end of the stick you are, in line with the example of abundance and lack. Lack is the other end of the stick of abundance.

In studying psychology, we debate all the time nature versus nurture. How does this all fit in with our physical reality? Is the persona not the same as personality traits? Where does nurture versus nature fit in?

Your super curious friend,
Isabelle!

Dear Isabelle,

Nature is the intentions you set prior to your birth. You are born with a personality, for that is who you really are. You choose your parents and the time and place of your birth, and your body too, because you knew the experiences of your childhood and the beliefs imposed by those around you would launch you on a trajectory to explore what you came here to explore. That is nurture.

Nature is all that really matters. Nurture is the influence of others, your parents, teachers, friends, family, culture, and society. Without those influences, you would live a natural and authentic life because you would be free from the influences of others. You would mostly live in physical reality as you exist in nonphysical. You would simply be who you really are. You would be a limitless being of pure positive love and acceptance living in a physical world, but what would be the fun of that? You came here to expand through the experience of life and create and manifest your desires. You are affected by the conditions of your youth and this launches you on a trajectory that will lead you to those aspects of physical reality you are interested in exploring in this life. Sounds weird, but doesn't that explain so much?

Your persona is the false construct of who you think you are. Who you really are is a limitless being of pure positive love and acceptance. Your persona is false, because it is not who you really are. If you consider yourself intelligent, playful, beautiful, loving, moody, easily annoyed, etc., these are simply constructs created by your perception of reality and who you are within that reality. They are not true. While you may indeed be intelligent, what does that really mean? By what measure? Grades, comparison to others, interests, abilities, etc.? If you consider yourself to be intelligent, then that might define you to the extent of how intelligent you believe yourself to be. Do you see how this construct, this fabrication, places you in a box? It is limiting, even if you see it as a positive thing. When this aspect of yourself is challenged, you feel fear, because what if it's not true? What if you are not intelligent? Your entire persona is built on this aspect of yourself and if it were not true, then you would have to rethink your entire idea about who you really are.

In these times, the ego (for lack of a better term) comes to the defense of the persona and just like the survival instinct, you go into a flight or fight mode of behavior, which is based in fear. Some may fight and attack their perceived attacker. Some may flee from the attack and become quiet, depressed, moody, or something else. When you have a rigid persona, your ego must constantly be on guard, wary of any threat. When you have a flexible persona and are not attached to other people's perception of you (which is simply your perception of their range of possible perceptions), then your ego needs not vigorously defend the persona. One might call you "easy-going."

You are not who you think you are, but you might fall into a pattern of behavior based on the aspect of physical reality you chose to explore. You might get caught up in the momentum of an approach to life or a perception of reality that is self-defining. You might enjoy being thought of as intelligent, because you believe this is a valuable trait and since it is in full alignment with how your inner self sees you, it feels good. Then again, when that trait is challenged by someone or by you yourself, you feel negative emotion because your inner self knows that the trait itself is meaningless and you've just attached too much meaning to it.

In reality, you can change your idea of who you are in an instant. That is possible for you and also for any human on the planet, if the desire is there. The desire to change must be present in the vibration of the individual. They may use devices to assist them in their change, but the devices don't really matter. They might use psychiatry, meditation, or even drugs or surgery to change their idea of who they are, but all that work is really done internally and the tools are simply devices that allow the person to believe that the change is coming from somewhere outside themselves. You could literally jump out of an airplane and land safely if you believed you could. However, you don't believe that so you use a device called a parachute. But, if you do not have the desire to skydive, then the parachute doesn't matter because your irrational fear of dying while skydiving will prevent you from experiencing this aspect of physical reality.

The desire must be stronger than the fears. The fears must be weaker than the desire. The beliefs will be adjusted based on the strength of the desire and the fears will be overcome if they can be mitigated. Everything is a play between desire, fear, and beliefs. Modify any one of them and your vibration changes and as a result, your reality changes. Therefore, you could say that your vibration is a mix of your desires, beliefs, and fears. Shake up that mix and you will experience a different personal reality.

With our love,
We are Joshua
