Arnaud Question #51

Dear Joshua,

I want to explore the idea of self containment a bit further.

Tonight, on the way back from work on the bus I was doing a little experiment. I often do some empowering self talk during the journey and this evening I was inspired to try and conjure a specific feeling. Just for the sheer pleasure of wallowing in it. I love architecture and the sight of beautiful homes always inspires me this idea of ultimate bliss, of living in a pure non-resistant state of constant awe and merriment. You have already told me in one of my earlier questions that this was the feeling of worthiness, that I was trying to validate with the wish of manifesting a great home. But, tonight, I was approaching it from a different angle. I was only interested in manifesting the feeling without ulterior motive, on the basis that, since I am self contained, I already have access to that specific feeling and therefore should be able to manifest it. I played with my imagination, focusing on what this would feel like and I managed to amp up the feeling to a certain degree. I had that radiating sensation from my sternum of well-being and a certain lightness, although it probably wasn't quite as strong as I had intended at first. Nevertheless, it was fun and enjoyable, which was the main thing.

Funnily enough, shortly afterwards (still on the same bus journey) I look at my twitter account and at the top of the feed, there's this story about Jennifer Aniston's dream house in LA with pictures from the Architecture Digest. I had to laugh. These pictures brought me exactly to the feeling I was trying to reach and brought the fun to a whole new level.

Is this how it works? First, I look within reaching for a specific feeling, then the universe gives me a little helping hand and brings me more of it so I can focus on it more and amplify it? It all seemed so perfectly orchestrated...

With love,
Arnaud

Dear Arnaud,

What you have described is the law of Attraction at work. Yes, you are self-contained. Everything already exists within you. All the feelings you would like to feel are tucked away in there somewhere. It is your desire to feel something that will bring forth those feelings in a physical sense. You previously believed that the outer conditions caused you to feel something. If you saw a sunset and felt good, you perceived it was the sunset that made you feel the way you were feeling. However, the sunset was simply your excuse to feel good.

You want to feel the feeling of living in or owning a grand house worthy of Architectural Digest and so you conjure up that feeling and you attract a house on Twitter that reflects how you are feeling. It actually reflects it perfectly. You were conjuring the feeling of the house, not the ownership, the expense, the renovation, the upkeep and all the possible little problems, just the house itself. Do you see how this really works?

You own the house in your mind and you can enjoy the photos from afar. Jennifer Aniston owns the physical house itself. Why do you not own the house? Because you perceive obstacles, hurdles, problems, and fear. She is able to overcome those fears. She can overcome those fears because she has the money in the bank, the experience of working with contractors, architects, designers, etc. She has the ability (however it has come to her) to process fear to do what she wants to do. In the end, it is her ability to process fear that enables her to own the physical home.

You might say that if you had the same bank account that you too could process the fear. However, the ability to process fear enabled her to amass the money necessary to do what she needed to do. It was her ability to process fear that came before everything else. You can process the fear enough to receive the photo on Twitter and this completes the perfect manifestation for you. Get better at processing fear (and we know you are getting much better) and your manifestations will be even more impressive.

The thing to remember is that there is no difference between the photo of the house on Twitter and the house itself. Each provides a feeling. You resonate and vibrate with the photo of the house while Jennifer Aniston resonates with the physical house. But in the end, they are just the feelings of the house and one is not better than the other. It is the feeling that matters. You received a feeling in response to the photo. However, that feeling already existed within you and you chose to feel how you felt. You could have looked at that photo and chosen to feel envy, longing, or even despair. Lots of people have looked at that same photo and it has evoked a wide range of feelings each based on the perceiver's choice. The perceivers do not realize they are making the choice, they believe that the choice is made for them. That is the old approach to life.

If one felt bad every time they looked at a photo of a grand house, they would presume that it was the house that made them feel bad. To control the negative emotion, they would not process their fear, but would likely avoid photos of grand houses. However, you can now see that this is simply their choice of reaction. The photo has no intrinsic qualities itself. Everyone comes to the photo with a certain perception of reality. But even that perception is mostly a choice of perception. In reality, anyone could perceive anything in an empowering way or in a limiting way. The choice of perspective is up to the perceiver.

So yes, you felt for the feeling of the house and then you were guided to the photo. It was inspiration coming from a place of well-being that led you to that specific photo. When you saw it, you chose to feel a more intense version of the feeling you were conjuring. However, it was still your choice to feel that way. You are self-contained and in feeling for something, you make it easier for the universe to present you with physical mirrors to how you feel. Make it a priority to feel good and the universe has endless physical things to mirror how you already feel.

With our love,
We are Joshua
