Allyson Question #92

Dear Joshua,

Here's a quote from an article about Abraham and LOA. This didn't feel right ....

If we think certain thoughts about another person it becomes their reality, even if they are not consciously aware of your perception ...

Really? Then it goes on to say we should think loving thoughts - which I'm good with but I'm not comfortable with the above statement.

Thank you,
Allyson

Dear Allyson,

You create in your reality. You cannot create in the reality of another. What you think of someone else can only matter to you. You might influence the other person with your words or actions, but you cannot create in their reality. They may choose to be influenced by your words or actions, but they are still creating in their reality. Since you have the free will to choose any thought you think, and so does everyone else, then it can never matter what you think of them unless it matters to you.

For instance, if you choose to see the positive aspects of another person, then by the Law of Attraction, those positive aspects will become more pronounced in them and in other people as well. If you perceive your mate as kind, and you focus on all the ways he is kind, you will perceive him to be even more kind, other people will be more kind, and you'll notice kindness more often. The quality of kindness becomes more due to your powerful focus of attention.

The same is true when you pay attention to anything you do not personally like or appreciate in your mate or in others. However, that has nothing to do with them and everything to do with you. If you think rudeness is a horrible quality, you will notice rudeness everywhere. You will pick up on it because you are tuned to the vibration of it. You will even perceive people as being rude, even if they are not. You will be mistaken, but because of your focus of attention on something you do not like, it becomes more and your perception is formed around that. You can see things that other people will not see because you have focused your perception of reality on those things. Focus on what you like and you'll see more of that. Focus on what you hate, and you'll notice much more of that. Leave alone anything you personally do not like and you will notice it much less often.

Let's say you love the flavor of chocolate. You think it's wonderful, but your mate hates it. He thinks chocolate is awful. You are both focused on chocolate and so it will come up equally for both of you. According to you, this will be a good thing, but to him, it will seem very bad. Do you see how the system works? It's your attention that matters, not whether you judge something as good or bad. Since there is nothing inherently good or bad in the universe, the Law of Attraction is neutral in that respect. It does not bring you more of what you think is good than bad, because to it, there is no good or bad. Everything is judged by the beholder. The key is to focus your power of attention in a way that is empowering for you personally and not worry about anyone else.

We would say the line a little differently; "If we think certain thoughts about another person, it becomes our reality, even if they are not consciously aware of what we are thinking."

With our love,
We are Joshua
