Allyson Question #9

Dear Joshua,

What's up with our personal preferences? Would a preference include a hobby? Why or how do we pick the things that grab our attention?

I've always loved big trees (mostly oaks) that sit by themselves - I call them Lone Trees. They are majestic and I think about them in all different ways. But why did I pick this as my thing to love? My thing to seek and find? I love small little flowers or weeds that grow out of rocks. I love old barns and broken, rusty cars or farm equipment that have been long neglected. Why? Yes, I love all these things to photograph, which is a hobby but why these things?

Thanks!
Allyson

Dear Allyson,

You set certain intentions prior to your emergence into this incarnation as Allyson. You mostly set general intentions, but there might have been something more specific that you wanted to explore while you are here. Some people never find that thing, because they think it's wrong, silly, or inconsequential. However, if you like it, if you are interested in it, if it catches your attention, then there is something in that for you. If you follow it and pursue it and let it take you in fully, it might become a hobby or it might become a passion.

You don't really ever know what your specific intention is until you begin to explore and follow those things that interest you. It could be anything, and there's no telling what it will be. When someone has an interest in something that their parents think is good, then they are allowed to follow it freely and even encouraged to. If their parents think the interest is wrong, like enjoying spiders or snakes for instance, then the child is dissuaded from that interest. But one can never know where the interest will lead, so it is always right to follow whatever interest you have and not think that it's either good or bad; it simply is an interest.

You are here to find your bliss. Your bliss might be contained in the pursuit of a hobby or a passion, or it might be accomplished in the simple enjoyment of the things you love. When you bring in the energy of love and fully accept that whatever you're interested is worthy of your interest and you are worthy of that interest, then you can allow it to develop, because you can't ever know where that interest will lead.

You like certain things and they are all good. Other people like other things and those subjects are good as well. You came to a time in history where there has never been more diversity of subjects and each one can be explored in more detail with more ease than ever before. This is no coincidence. You knew this going in. So then, explore whatever it is you are interested in and explore it fully. You never know where it will lead, but in the full embrace of the subjects you enjoy, you will find yourself in a state of bliss and that is your birthright. Everything you need is to be found within that state of bliss, which is also known as the state of allowing.

With our love,
We are Joshua
